Hudson County Democratic Organization announces endorsed candidates for State Assembly, County Executive

Standing together with numerous prominent Hudson County Democratic leaders, HCDO Chairman Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto announced the party’s endorsed candidates for State Assembly and County Executive in a news conference today at the historic Brennan Courthouse in Jersey City. Chairman Prieto was joined by Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, North Bergen Mayor and State Senator Nick Sacco, Union City Mayor and State Senator Brian Stack, State Senator Sandra Cunningham, Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer, West New York Mayor Felix Roque, Kearny Mayor Al Santos, Weehawken Mayor Rich Turner and several other local Democratic leaders.

At the event the party announced its support for incumbent Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and incumbent Assembly members Vincent Prieto and Angelica Jimenez from the 32nd district and Raj Mukerji from the 33rd district, as well as Assembly candidates Nicholas Chiaravalloti and Denise Ridley in the 31st district and Annette Chaparro in the 33rd district.

“This Hudson County Democratic ticket represents the values of our party and I am very excited to renew our support of several worthy incumbents and welcome three new faces to our team,” said Chairman Prieto. “Together these candidates show what the Hudson County Democratic Organization is all about – diversity, unity and an unbreakable commitment to fighting for the working families of Hudson County.” 

31st District Assembly candidate Nicholas Chiaravalloti

A lifelong Bayonne resident, Nicholas Chiaravolloti has a long and distinguished record of public service and community engagement. He formerly served as State Director for U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and Executive Director of the Bayonne Local Redevelopment Authority and currently works as the Executive Director of the Guarini Institute for Leadership and Government at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City.

 31st District Assembly candidate Denise Ridley

Denise Ridley is a Senior Analyst at IMS Health in Parsippany, owns a successful local real estate agency and serves as an elected Committeewoman of the Jersey City Democratic Organization representing Ward A District 32. She is a lifelong Jersey City resident and holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology.

33rd District Assembly candidate Annette Chaparro

Annette Chaparro has deep roots in Hoboken and has long been involved in political campaigns and community organizations in the Mile Square City. She works in the Hoboken City Clerk’s Office and formerly served as Secretary to the city Planning and Zoning boards. She has worked on campaigns for Senator Menendez, former Governor Jon Corzine and former Hoboken Mayor David Roberts.

Chairman Prieto also took time to recognize Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, who will be running with HCDO support for his fourth full term after first winning a special election for the seat in 2002.

“Tom DeGise is one of the true leaders of our party and during his time as County Executive he has restored honesty and integrity to the office while pursuing countless positive initiatives to benefit Hudson County,” said Chairman Prieto. “I am very proud to support Tom DeGise and look forward to continuing to work closely with him and all of our elected leaders.”
